GA and Beyond

Hello Friends,

Our last blog left off with our time at General Assembly. We ended our time at the GA hearing great preaching on Sunday.
We kept up with the business parts of the meetings by Internet and watched the videos of the elections of the new General Superintendents. We are so pleased that one of the three elected is from Africa. This is the first GS from outside of the USA and it is high time for that since more than 50% of the church population is from outside the USA and Canada.

We enjoyed spending time with David's mom and sister who flew down from Iowa to help us at GA.
Our friend, Jim, was there as well and he helped us by sharing his condo with us for a few days. It was fun to see friends from Central America, for example, our friend Gerardo who is the District leader for Nicaragua South.

On Monday and Tuesday we had fun visiting two of the Disney Parks – Epcot and Magic Kingdom. We would highly recommend Epcot to anyone with kids our ages – 11 and 14.
They loved it all! Magic Kingdom was geared more toward smaller kids and the biggest roller coaster was closed, then add in an entire day of rain, and we decided that Epcot was more our style.

After two days of walking and fun, we loaded up the car once again to head north and west to Iowa. Three long days later, we arrived in Iowa, watched the Ames, Iowa fireworks and then spoke at the Fort Dodge Church on Sunday morning. After a nice lunch with their prayer group, we were glad to arrive safe and sound in Leon (David’s mom’s home) once again.

In our 6 weeks in the USA we have put more than 5000 miles on the van and moved all our stuff in and out of homes/hotels etc… 15 times! We are glad for today – a day with no services and time to catch up on emails and daily work. The kids may even find time to swim at the local pool this afternoon.

We are gearing up for a trip to Olathe, KS on Wednesday and then off to northeast Iowa on Friday. It will be a busy weekend with services on Sunday morning in Cedar Falls and Sunday night in Burlington, IA.

God bless your week! See you down the road!
