The CA Experience

Dear Family and Friends,

Last week was special for the Webb family as we flew to San Diego, CA for a 5-day visit with our friends at Las Flores Church of the Nazarene in Carlsbad, CA. Only David had ever visited CA before, so it was a first for three of us!

We enjoyed great food and lodging with our friends, Toby, Rhonda and Sammy. We appreciated the computer assistance from Phil and Stephanie (Congrats you two with baby on the way!). Kayley loved her sleepover with her pal Bonnie (Thanks May family!) and we had a blast reuniting with the two teams from their church that visited Costa Rica in the last two years. The teens are growing up!

We visited the beach, the San Diego zoo (lots of walking and a great elephant exhibit among others), Sea World (you gotta love Shamu and the dolphins!),
and rode our first combination roller coaster/water ride.

Joshua had his first surfing lesson and actually made it to his feet one time! His teacher was the youth pastor, Nate (standing next to Joshua in the photo), who is a semi-pro surfer - an expert! How fun for Joshua to try this new sport!

We spoke at the Las Flores church on Wednesday night.
Then Thursday evening we enjoyed a cookout with the teams and the local mission council. What fun!

We also visited Point Loma Nazarene University. It is an amazing campus with many ocean views! I think I would have a hard time studying there!!! Kayley has decided she IS going to college there and Joshua is strongly considering it. We’ll see!

We are preparing to leave for Tulsa, OK in the morning where we will speak Saturday night, Sunday morning and Sunday night. Then back to Iowa for a day of laundry and packing it all up! Next week we head off to Chicago, then Ohio, then West Virginia, then Maryland and the DC area. It will be a little crazy before we finally head back to Chicago and then HOME to Costa Rica!

Thanks for your prayers for our travel and church services. It has been a great summer filled with many blessings from God.

God bless you all,
The Webb Family
