It’s been an amazing year serving as a missionary with the USA Canada Region helping young adults to serve as mission interns and discover God’s call on their lives.
My time has been spent in development of resources to make The Cause Missions Interns program a reality: manuals, promotional material, logistics, financial plans, giving links, trainings, emails and more emails. And of course, speaking engagements at district assemblies and local church Faith Promise events to share what’s happening on the Region.
One of my main responsibilities is to choose great host sites for developmental opportunities for interns for 8 weeks up to 11 months. You can see the approved sites here, but more are coming.

These churches or Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Centers have vibrant ministries to their multicultural community: serving needs in housing insecurity, food insecurity, community outreach events, sewing ministries, garden ministries, teaching, workshops, etc, etc. etc.
In May, after 7 weeks of training, a group of 9 young adults aged 18-28 traveled to three sites to serve for the summer. El Paso, TX, Clearwater, FL and Indianapolis, IN. These students had an amazing time serving, learning, growing, and adapting to a new place, new culture(s) and new ministries. They were well-received, mentored and cared for by the host sites. It was a huge success! One intern is still on site until the end of November and more are going out in February!
Developing a new missions workshop called Explore has also been on my plate. This training is for those who are interested in missions in the Church of the Nazarene and want to learn some basics. This training will be available online but also face to face at the district level by trained facilitators. Learning about God's mission and how to participate in it is an important first step. On a personal note, our grown kids are going well. Joshua lives in Corvallis, Oregon and works with Oregon State University Alumni Association. His girlfriend Jenna is studying for her PhD in Geography.
We are pleased to announce that Kayley and Matthew are now married! We had a wonderful time in New York on the Keuka Lake for the wedding. Matthew and Kayley live in Austin,TX. Kayley works as an Occupational Therapist for a school district and Matthew is a computer programmer.
