Home Assignment - Month #1

Hello everyone:
Hola a todos:

MVNU

As we sit in the Columbus, Ohio airport, headed towards Chicago and then Boise, Idaho, we want to share what our first month in the USA for home assignment has included.

But first, a little about the La Garza Church that David and the team visited just before our travels.  This church has a great vision for rebuilding after the earthquake destroyed the church in 2017.  They have begun the work, but could use your help to continue on.

We had a stressful week before leaving from Mexico to the USA with some unexpected immigration issues involving fumigation and then a broken printer at the main office.  In the end, God worked it all out and in the nick of time (literally). We are approved as residents for a second year in Mexico!

The direct flight from Mexico City to Detroit was a breeze and we sure enjoyed our time on the Eastern Michigan district visiting eight churches. We enjoyed the apple mills, cider and fall colors of Michigan.

A highlight for us was getting to see our kids off an on during our time in Ohio.  However, we have become lazy about getting photos so I cannot prove it!  Just one of Kayley and Abby.

We stayed at MVNU for a few nights, in Columbus a couple nights and we visited both Jefferson and Xenia, Ohio. Great friends, good services sharing about what God is doing in Mexico, and fun days including a soccer game for little ones and Harvest events for kids.

Chick Fil A is always a special treat!

West Virginia was a pit stop for five nights before returning to Ohio.  We enjoyed our time with old friends and we made some new ones along the way. We spoke in five churches on the district and even got a little bit of hiking in too.

Back in Mexico, the work continues with Jessi Delgado leading the way. This weekend there is a first time event happening in the Olmeca district:  a pastor's retreat led by leaders of the Oaxaca district.  This is a great example of Mission Connection (Work and Witness within Mexico and beyond).  There will be two more Mission Connection teams in the next few months.  One from La Huasteca to Oaxaca and the other from Merida to Queretero.

Somos bendicidos.

Also, two teams from the USA worked in the Mezcala area (near Guadalajara) and the leadership team there led the two teams.  It is wonderful to work with such competent, capable ministry leaders such as Rene and Vane. We are blessed.

Team from Lodi Church of the Nazarene, CA.

Finally, we want to thank Ted and Lori Bruce for serving with us in Mexico for one month.  Ted worked hard to enclose the storage area and Lori had her first experience with dental hygiene on the mission field.

Gloria a Dios.
Two blessings more:  the donated truck for W&W finally arrived to Berriozabal.  Praise God.

And the solar panels are working well.  Already we are seeing a drastic reduction in the electric bill.
That is excellent news.

Well, we are now in Chicago waiting for our flight to Boise.  Blessings to you all and we hope to see you as we travel.

Bendiciones en Cristo,
Blessings in Christ,

David and Shelley

Update: Sponsored Missionaries

Mitchel (left) and Jessi (right)
We have some exciting news to share. Two of our dedicated and talented volunteers have been assigned as Sponsored Missionaries: Jessi Delgado and Mitchel Ramos Cruz. Please consider supporting them financially in their missionary assignments.
Jessi Delgado

Jessi has served as a volunteer missionary for more than five years: two years with Genesis church planting in the Dominican Republic and three years with Work and Witness in Mexico. She is from Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico. She has a degree in tourism and this has served her well as she has worked with more than 20 North American teams. She has been approved as a Sponsored Missionary with Mexico Work and Witness, taking on an even higher level of leadership in the ministry. She has heart for raising up more leaders from Mexico to serve as missionaries and is an excellent mentor for these young people. Additionally, she is leading the newly named ministry Mission Connection to connect Mexican churches with other churches/districts within Mexico to serve in various ministries including compassion, education, and construction.

Please pray for Jessi and if you can help support her financially, just follow this link:
Mitchel Ramos Cruz
Mitchel, who is from Jiquipilas, Chiapas, Mexico, has been serving with Work and Witness Mexico since the earthquake in Juchitan, Oaxaca in 2017. He is 24 years old and has a degree in civil engineering. He has set aside the normal role of job hunting and money making to serve with the Church of the Nazarene. In this process, God has confirmed his missionary call. This year, he spent two weeks serving with W&W Guatemala and North Central Area ministry. The leadership team in Guatemala has invited him back, and he will serve for two months in October and November of 2019, with plans to return for a year of service in 2020.

Please pray for Mitchel and if you can help support him financially, just follow the link below.

We, the Webbs, have served as missionaries for more than 14 years now, and nothing encourages us more than seeing young people respond to God’s call, step out in faith, and serve God as He desires. We ask you to prayerfully consider a financial gift to help these Sponsored Missionaries. We encourage you to give a monthly, recurring gift as this helps them for the long term, but any offering, no matter how small, is a great blessing for them in their ministry.

Thanks for your support of these awesome, young leaders. The Church of the Nazarene is in good hands as long as we continue to develop leaders such as these.
Blessings from us to you,
David and Shelley Webb

Agosto/September 2019

As we get more and more adjusted to life in Mexico, we find we have more to do and less time to do it in!  That’s a good sign that we are where we should be in ministry.  So, this blog will be few words and more photos.  Enjoy.

¡Disfrute!

Six major items have been on the agenda this month.

1.     Faith Promise Weekend in Tulsa, OK with Regency Park.
Promesa de Fe en Tulsa, Oklahoma con Regency Park.
We always enjoy seeing our very first Pastor in the Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Geoffrey Gunter and his wife Sharon.  We first met them in 1991.

5.     Solar Panels   Paneles Solares
Thanks to the East Kentucky District for their support of missions in Mexico, we have the funds to install 12 solar panels. Electricity is expensive here. The hope is that the panels will generate the electricity needed for 90% or more of the electric needs. The panels are now installed, and we are waiting for the electric company to install a new meter. Soon we will be in business.  THANK YOU, East Kentucky District and Stephen and Anne Sickel who made this possible.

6.     Preparing for Upcoming Teams in Mexico.
Work and Witness ministry within Mexico continues to grow! We have two teams from Mexico that will be serving outside their district in other parts of Mexico this fall.  This is really exciting as the new ministry Mission Connection gets started.  For 2020, we are working with 6 teams in the first part of the year.

Proyecto Un Lugar: Golfo distrito. Hospedaje para pastores jubilados.  Housing for retired pastors.

Family news:  Kayley has returned to the USA for her final year of college.  We are anticipating a trip to Ohio in May for her graduation. Joshua is working in the Columbus area and has added indoor rock climbing as his newest activity.
